


























Rare Large Bat Effigy Vessel
Late classic period 300 BC - 300 AD

Fine chocolate ware globular vessel with triangular wings that are flush with the head and decorated with punctuations. The gaping open mouth of the bat serves as mouth of the vessel. Excellent ancient surface patina with root marks and strong mineral deposits. Ancient loss to the toes on the left foot, a few repaired breaks in the rear lower body with restoration over the break lines. A very rare and possibly unique example.
